Chiropractic Adjustments Dorado, PR

Chiropractic Adjustments (manual or instrumental)

A chiropractic adjustment can make you feel so much better. Your body does not want to be out of alignment, and that’s exactly what an adjustment can help address. It is also known as chiropractic manipulation, manual manipulation, or spinal manipulation. The adjustment refers to the manipulation of the vertebrae that have abnormal movements and are not functioning properly. A chiropractic adjustment will assist in fixing these issues.

The goal of chiropractic treatment is to reduce the subluxation, increase the range of motion, reduce nerve irritability, and improve mobility. Our compassionate and qualified chiropractor will work with you to relieve this pain and get you back to being pain free every single day.

A chiropractic adjustment involves high velocity thrusts applied to the vertebra, relieving sensation, discomfort, and spasms in the surrounding muscles. It also releases joint cavitation, which is caused by the release of oxygen, nitrogen, and carbon dioxide.

Although many people visit their chiropractor and have an adjustment when something feels out of alignment, a regular visit will help you avoid any pain in the future and will keep your body feeling great all day long.

If you are having one of those days when you are not in the best mood, an adjustment may actually help. Your body will feel much better, which will naturally improve your mood.

Cupping

Cupping is an ancient practice and can be found as far back as 1550 B.C. in Egyptian texts. It was practiced in ancient Chinese and Middle Eastern cultures as well. Cupping has been adopted by practitioners across many different forms of eastern medicine, including Ayurveda. It is used to treat a wide range of health issues including, but not limited to:

  • Inflammation
  • Injury
  • Neck, shoulder, and back pain
  • Joint problems
  • Carpal tunnel syndrome
  • Asthma
  • Headaches
  • Cramps
  • Digestive issues
  • Arthritis
  • Eczema
  • Acne
  • Allergies
  • High blood pressure
  • Anxiety

We perform cupping therapy by placing specialized cups on your skin for several minutes to create suction. You can think of it as the opposite of a massage – pulling your tissue up rather than massing your tissue down. Depending on your needs, cupping can also be combined with acupuncture.

Your practitioner will create the suction in the cups by first putting a flammable substance in the cups and setting it on fire. As the flame goes out, your practitioner will carefully place the cup upside down on your skin. As the air within the cup cools, it creates a vacuum that causes your skin and underlying soft tissues to be suctioned up into the cup. In most cases, these cups are left in place for a few minutes and then gently removed.

Benefits of cupping include reduced pain and inflammation, a greater sense of calm and well-being, decreased pain and irritation caused by skin, joint, and muscle issues, improved digestion, and lowered blood pressure.

Side effects are generally mild and may include bruising where the cups were placed and minor discomfort. Bruising and marks left from the therapy typically last a few days, but may take more than a week to fade.

Graston Technique

The Graston Technique is essentially a type of therapy that uses instruments to assist in the mobilization of soft tissues of the body. It is a very popular technique that gives patients a great deal of relief.

The Graston Technique works by breaking down scar tissue and fascia restrictions that are created by trauma to the soft tissue. This can be the result of strained muscles or pulled tendons.

It also reduces restrictions by elongating connective tissue. This effectively changes the structure of the tissue in order to improve function.

If you are curious about The Graston Technique, please reach out to us today. We would be happy to speak with you and discuss the many benefits of this technique.

Webster Technique on Pregnant Patients

The Webster Technique is a type of chiropractic adjustment for pregnant mothers. More specifically, it is a sacral analysis and adjustment that reduces the effects of sacral subluxation. In other words, the function of the pelvis is enhanced.

This technique helps mothers with labor difficulty caused by less than optimal uterine function, malpresentation, and pelvic contraction. These are all symptoms of sacral subluxation.

Ultimately, the Webster Technique can help promote a safer, more comfortable birth. This is an attractive option to families for obvious reasons, and it is something that many mothers have benefitted greatly from.

To learn more about the Webster Technique and how it benefit expecting mothers, please contact us today. We’d be happy to talk about your pregnancy and how chiropractic care can help.
